A Toast: To Doing Different Things.

My husband and I work from home. Everything we do is in some way, shape, or form, about computers. Seriously, I may work 15 hours a day on my computer, and then my "free" time is/was on the computer too. I got a bit burnt out from all of that, and decided to do other things. Nothing huge like theater or amusement parks or anything, just simple things like watching TV (Sounds funny, but our TV is on so infrequently I rarely even know the headlining news.), watching movies we wouldn't normally watch or try, taking our dogs for a walk together rather than letting them out in the fenced in backyard, sitting out by our firepit... It's funny how simple stupid little things can refresh you.

At last my stomach is managable. It's been about ten days or so, and my stomach is doing pretty good. I've come to the conclusion that stress more than anything was hurting my stomach. Though there are some foods I have to be careful with. But when I'm not feeling all anxious and stressed my stomach can handle just about anything. Just about. It isn't its old self by any means, but it's 1000% better than it's been in a long time. I can even have chocolate again!!!

Maybe that's what I needed... a type of vacation. When you're work is your home it's hard to separate down time from work time, and since my work is on the computer and all/a lot of my free time was on the computer I lost even further how to separate the two.

I'm glad you're doing better. :) But I'm also glad to hear from you again. I swear I always wonder where you disappear to! XD

Hey, just a question. Would you like to read more of Terms of Paradise? You're the only person online I'm letting read it in its entirety (I don't want too many online people reading my unpublished work). You don't have to play reviewer or editor, though I would like to know what you think.
That's one thing that's well-known about IBS. Once you get it stabilized and keep it stabilized for a week or two, it will tend to STAY stabilized even if you eat a bit of food that would have bothered you before. But there will probably always be just a few foods that you can NEVER eat without consequences. Or perhaps you can only ever eat them in tiny amounts with the right foods. I can eat a TINY bit of peanut butter if my stomach is very stable, but no more, and it always has to be with something else...bread, for example. Or better yet, toast. (makes a difference, somehow) And weirdly, perhaps...pineapple makes me quite sick, specially the fresh stuff. Must be all the enzymes.

A lot of my flist does a lot of their work at home, as most of them are writers/artists. I do too, actually...Etsy is online, of course. My stomach was HORRIBLE for December and much of January because I was SO stressed out...my stomach told me so even before I properly realized it. My stomach would calm right down (not perfectly, but still) if I just put on some Enya. Seriously. Lose the tension and the guts unclench, solving the worst of the pain, most of the time. :)
Yeah, I've come to realize that stress is what really made my problem worse. I have tried some food lately that normally would mess me up -- I wanted to see if it would still give me a bad reaction, or if it was the stress causing most of the problems. At first I had no problems, but if I did it for more than a few days my stomach started to act up, though in a completely different way than the stress. lol The stress triggers the IBS-D -- The most painful. Otherwise it's IBS-C with bloating and mild but irritating stomach aches. For the most part this is what I've noticed. :)

I haven't de-stressed to music in a long time. I don't know why I stopped. I need to get back to it. I also like to listen to Nature Sounds like mild thunderstorms, falling rain, waterfalls... Things like that for de-stressing.
Ah, it's good to hear from you!
Boy, I have a lot to tell you. :D
Mostly it's me getting a new job. I work at the Oakley headquarters in Lake Forest. I think my title is Digital Art Specialist. lol

Anyway, I know what you mean about working from home. Before I got my new job I was working freelance. Though, I think i might continue it. It's nice to get out. Staying home can drive you crazy. Taking walks are very refreshing. I'm glad you're doing well.
Hey we should become penpals. I know it's easy just to email but snail mail is fun. Everyone likes getting things in the mail.
yea, I know I'm a big dork. :P But it would be something to do without using the computer.

lol well let me know if your up for it!
I'm definitely up for pen pals! :)

Hey! Congrats on getting the new job. Digital Arts Specialist huh? Sounds very cool, and important. :) Have you been doing a lot of DA lately? I'll have to stop by and check. :)

Freelancing from home definitley sounds fun, but like you said it tends to drive you stir crazy. I've been considering getting a part time job just for the sake of getting out everyday, but I'm not sure I'll go that far. lol

The walk certainly was refreshing and the dogs loved it. Plus it helped me teach them a little discipline. lol They're spoiled rotten. (Not that that's my fault. lol Yeah right.)

So... if your email is still the same, I'll email you my address, and you can email me yours. :)
Yea, I'm excited for the job.
I start when ever they get my new computer in. :D

My email is obbluedepp@gmail.com

Oh and yes, I have been DAing!!!
Great to hear from you! i was wondering where you'd disappeared..:)

Its good to kind of get away from stuff once in a while..I find myself spending a lot of time on the computer too, both for work and leisure- and sometimes, you *do* need a different kind of 'break' so I have to consciously force myself to get away from the computer..:)
Hope you are feeling refreshed!!
I am feeling a bit refreshed. Today I may go out to Epcot, just to get a bit of fun in before I get back to the grind. One thing with working from home you forget to take vacations. lol It's like you don't feel you have a right to one or something. :)
I can understand..:)
Oh..and I love kuramusbluegurl's pen pal idea..It suddenly reminded me of my penpal (when I was a teenager)..She was from Austria (which seemed so far away-I was in India)..Now, the internet makes places seem much closer but nothing compares to snail mail..:)
There's something romantic about snail mail. The fancy paper, the anticipation of getting a letter in the mail. I don't know, but I love the idea of it.

When I was in fifth grade I had a teacher that set pen pals up for her entire class. Mine was from Germany. To a fifth grader, that's insanely far away, and really cool too. lol I thought I was so special. Funny, I can still remember her name; even though the pen pal thing never worked out.

If you'd like to join the pen pal idea, just give me a holler. :)
There is, isn't there?

I *would* love to join the penpal idea ..so *holler*..*grin*..(It would be fun..and I feel like I know you just enough to know that we'd have *something* in common but not enough that there'd be nothing to share..) I was telling my sister who lives in India that i wanted a pen pal again and she said she'd be mine and we'd pretend that we knew nothing about each other..lol..:) I love buying stationery..but she's even worse..:)

lol. Sounds good. My email is on my lj user info. page. If you want to email me your address, I'll email you mine. :)

Just emailed you..:)
Thank you. I just got it, and sent a reply. :)
got your reply..:) (This comment thread is going into smiley overload..I resisted there!)
