Purple Butterfly

I have the window open, so I can hear the rain falling. Sometimes I just love a good thunderstorm.

Late Sunday night I was reading everyone's LJ and replying when Bart came to me telling me he had to go to the emergency room. So... naturally I left. He were pretty sure he was having a kidney stone -- it's not his first. We have pain medication on hand in case he gets one. Unfortunately he was so nauseous he couldn't keep the medicine down. Kidney stones are way too painful to deal with without meds. So... because it was Sunday and there were no docs to see then we went to the emergency room. I did not get home until five in the morning. Needless to say it totally screwed with the sleep schedule I had managed to acquire. So the next few days I spent either sleeping or wishing I was sleeping. :) Anywho, that's why some of you might have gotten half comments and the like. :)

Okay, I said I'd post pics, so I'm posting pics. :)

Unfortunately I couldn't find the before pictures of my kitchen. :( I thought I imported them to my computer, but I cannot find them anywhere. So... it makes the pictures quite a bit less dramatic. But here they are anyway.

This is before the backsplash was installed.

Pr-Backsplash

This is with the backsplash. It isn't grouted yet, and there are no cover plates on the outlets; but the idea is clear. :)

Post-Backsplash

This is my desk. It's in my own home office, so it's not part of the living room or anything. The rest of my office is loaded with books. I tried to take a pic to show more of the entire room but I didn't have the right kind of lighting. I'll have to take it at night I think. Anyway, did I say my space isn't cluttered? It looks it from the pics. Oh well. :) For me -- well for my office anyway -- this is pretty uncluttered. I'm definitely stricter with the rest of the house. This is my own domain though so anything goes.

I spend many hours a day working here.

My Workspace

Hopefully all the links work right.

I have a touch lamp in my office. Ever since Pippin figured out how to work it he's been driving me nuts. I'm sitting here trying to work and I'll keep seeing these flashes of light. The lamp has three brightness levels and off, so you can imagine the flashes I'm seeing. Sometimes he does this over and over again. It's his revenge for me working and not playing with him. He's a complete attention hog.

Al Gore won the Nobel Peace Prize. That totally diminishes that organization's credibility in my eyes.

Apparently facts aren't important nowadays if people like Michael Moore and Al Gore are winning oscars -- and now a nobel peace prize !!! -- for documentaries filled with lies, exaggerations, and complete omissions of facts. There were some truths in Gore's "An Inconvenient Truth", but a lot of things were completely skewed. Thankfully someone, the UK I believe, is calling this movie out for its true colors. This is nothing but a witch hunt, and a ploy for Al Gore, the corporation hating lib, to line his own pockets. Okay, so that may or may not be his main motivation, but it certainly appears that way. I was never a fan a Bill Clinton, to put it mildly, but compared to his old VP, I practically love the man. I could totally go on and on about this, but I try to keep political rants to a minimum so I'll quit now.

Seeing the length of this journal I guess I'm particularly loquacious today. :)

Comments

First off, before the Blacksplash-- You have a very beautiful kitchen. I love it. And looking at the after picture, I wish I could steal it. Though that might prove to be difficult.

Your desk is very organized compared to mine. Not that mine isn't clean its just-- not organized if that makes sense. Though it seems like a little cute space to spend time in. Although the flashes of light from the dog is just too cute. =3 Pippin just wants your undivided attention. ^^

Holy shit you have a lovely kitchen!!!
I should send you a book
this one!!!

can i commission you for one of those sweets??? lol

Holy shit you have a lovely kitchen!!!

Thanks! :)

That book looks absolutely evil.

I bet if I made you a gooey brownie it would be rock hard by the time it got to you. lol *drools* Now I totally need a gooey brownie... With ice cream and hot fudge on top... oh and whip cream and a cherry... No, I don't have a sweet tooth. :)

My desk has been bothering me lately with how cluttered it's gotten. I'm looking into getting a new one. Hopefully I can swing a bigger one. :) It'll still get cluttered I'm sure, but at least I'll have a place to put things if I want to clean it up. :) I'm running out of space with my current setup.

Not that mine isn't clean its just-- not organized if that makes sense.

It makes perfect sense.

He isn't exactly subtle is he? lol
Ah, you're using my favorite of your icons. Lemme know if you ever retire it. ;) Heh!

I love me a good rainstorm too. When it does rain, which is rare. I wonder how the grass stays green.

Love your workspace. I'm afraid mine still outclutters yours, though. Oh and also want to say you have a nice computer! Beats the five year old thing I have. I still use one of those old clunky monitors. But why get rid of it when it works? I'd like to have a lap top but that'll have to be something to save for next year.

Loquacious. Wow, I love seeing words I don't see every day. Keep em coming!

Al Gore winning the Prize doesn't bother me. Just as long as he doesn't try to become President. His priorities are singular toward the environment. He's where he's supposed to be. And I won't speak against any of the Clintons. They get bashed too much.
I see we probably disagree on ol' Al, so I will say no more. My intent isn't to spread disharmony. :)

As much as the Clintons get bashed I'm afraid George W. has them beat on that. As much as I disliked Bill, I'd have never bashed him to the point George W. gets. Though lately he pisses me off too. :)

I certainly will. :)

We've gotten a lot of rain here the last few months. For many weeks in a row we'd get at least one a day. It's only been the last five days or so that we haven't got one. And then today... Bam! I loved it. I was getting used to it.

Thanks! I love both of my computers. I especially love my monitor! I'm sort of a computer freak. I love computers. I have a fit if mine takes more than two seconds to do anything. I'm impatient as hell. :) I will use both my computers simultaneously sometimes. :)

I'm working on getting a new desk, a bigger one. I need some writing space!! :)
Talking politics is the best way to end a friendship. Usually when I'm in the company of someone who wants to rant about it, I just listen and nod. It's better than losing that person as a friend just because I don't think a politician is a butthead the way he or she does. There are just more fun ways to be friends, you know?
:)

But I do agree with you about Bush.

Send some of that rain over here, would you? We sure could use it!

SORT of a computer freak? Could have fooled me, hon. ;)
I'll smile and nod when someone goes off about politics too. Most of the time it's just not worth it. :) Especially because I research it pretty heavily somtimes and I'm pretty passionate about it. That's usually why I try to avoid it -- reading it, listening to it, or writing it -- altogether.

North Carolina is begging for it too. :) Anyway, I'll just bottle up a few t-storms and send them your way. :)
